Earthworks Journals

I have discovered today the most amazing craftspersons on Etsy - Earthworks Journals in the UK create beautiful handmade leatherbound journals with pages which may be either permanently bound by traditional long-stitching, or inserted as removable punched pages which are held in place by leather cord. Designs are applied to the leather covers the old-fashioned way, by tools and patience, rather than an impersonal mechanical stamp. This means that your journal is individual in both the shade and texture of the leather grain and in the fine details of the design; together with the option to personalise it with your initials on the rear cover this is a beautiful product that you alone in the world will own, and which will stand the test of time at least as well as you will!
I adore the Tree of Life design and am hoping to have one made in the A5 size. The Tree of Life one I'll have permanently bound; I am also getting the Ammonite design with the removable and replaceable pages for my sketches. Anyone who's read anything of my Tumblr blog would have picked up along the way my deep interest in and love for zoological sciences, especially evolution and ethology; the Ammonite is perfect. But still, it's a close call.. other designs include the fabled Green Man, a beautiful Ghost Fern design, a Pentagon, and the most stunning Celtic Cross you can imagine hand tooled into a slice of leather.
Is it crazy to want them all, a beautiful bookshelf full of rich leather and beautiful carvings? Just how many blank journals is it decent to own all at once? Lucky they'll last awhile, as at least I'll have a lifetime in which to fill them..
